The
Hof van Wouw, situated in the centre of The Hague, is a surprisingly
quiet and peaceful venue. One of the most beautiful 17th century,
traditionally occupied complexes of Almshouses. During the year The Hof
opens her doors several times for special 'Hof and Garden events'. The
profit of those events will be used for the maintenance of the Hof and
the Garden of the Hesperiden.
Saturday the 9th of December
(between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm) you will find the Hof in her 'Christmas
dress' and you can taste the atmosphere of past times. The Hof will be
illuminated in a fairy-like way. While enjoying hot or cold seasonal
refreshments, you can listen to the songs of two choirs Archicapella and
Octavia.
'Hofmade' products will be for sale.

storyteller and actor Ashley Ramsden takes centre stage, portraying all
23 characters in the Dickens classic, each with vivid and distinctive
clarity. The program embraces the original masterpiece, transporting
audiences back to Victorian England and conjuring up the sinister back
alleys, cobblestone streets, and ghostly apparitions that are the
story’s hallmarks.

Christmas Carol is profoundly
relevant today. The gulf between wealthy and poor, the powerful and
powerless, is as significant now as it was in Dickensian England.

The
Hof van Wouw is in the centre of The Hague.These
Almshouses were founded in 1647 by Cornelia van Wouw for the purpose of
providing accommodation for single women. The residents are still
chosen by the rules laid down in the will of the founder. There have
been two major restorations of the Hof making them the most attractive
